Kilkelly is a small traditional Irish village situated on the river Trimogue with shops, pubs (traditional Irish music), newly built kiddies playground and astro turf football pitch, basketball court and public library.
The surrounding area of Kilkelly is mainly farming and is ideal for experiencing the hidden rural Ireland, great for walking and cycling and taking in fresh air and scenery. There are many places of historical interest, prehistoric forts, Barnacogue stone fort, and many earthen forts, Franciscan Abbey (circa 1400s) on the shores of Urlaur Lough. Irish Gaelic (GAA) Hurling and Football games can also be seen locally.
Located on the N17, Kilkelly is very central and is great for accessing the whole of the west coast of Ireland - Galway and on to Limerick and Cork in the south, Sligo and Donegal in the north.
